Ian Moult

My friend Ian Moult had the opportunity this summer to live in Switzerland for 4 months to work at the Large Hadron Collider, which is kind of insane. Pictured above is what I can only assume is Ian standing with his bike on top of a superconducting quadrupole magnet. Apart from being the best particle physicist I know, he’s also probably one of the best bike riders I know. While at CERN Ian shredded all of Europe, and since I doubt there are many other BMXer’s at CERN, he self filmed the whole thing. Check out the video here.

NYC

I just got back from a little less than a week in NYC with some friends. It was my first time there and it was definitely a lot of fun! I just dumped a whole bunch of photos from the trip along with some very half assed descriptions which you can check out on my flickr.

Websites for babies

I’m wondering why so many websites are designed to look like a baby boy’s nursery. Is this really the only way that people can come up with a website that looks friendly? I made a composite of a bunch of different background images from a few websites to stress my point which you can check out here.

Summit photo

I realized that I pretty much have no good photos from the 2010 Mozilla Summit, so instead I’m posting a link to this awesome group shot taken by Gen Kanai that I found through twitter/flickr. Check out the shot right here on flickr.

Campos Leckie

I haven’t really made any noise about this project yet (I’ll get my tweet on about it Monday morning), but I just wrapped up a new website for Campos Leckie Studio today and put it up on my portfolio. You can check out the project page here, or just go right to the website here.

#moz10

I’m at the Mozilla Summit in Whistler B.C. right now. It’s been awesome so far and it’s only day 1. Will try and remember to take some actual photos tomorrow of all the going ons instead of this crappy Photo Booth photo of my name tag.

Camping

Took the long weekend off and went camping out near Mission. It was really nice to get out of the city and off the computer for a bit. Excited for the upcoming Mozilla Summit in a couple of days!

Happy Canada day, Canada.

Update on things

Sometimes when things get going it feels like they don’t stop, which is kind of a good thing, I think. Raindrop is coming along well and I’m excited about new directions and experimentation. The Mozilla Summit in Whistler is in a couple weeks and it will be exciting to get more feedback from people in person (if you’re there, say hello!). I’m also in the middle of some fun side projects so things are super busy, but good. Working on some exciting collaborations with some new people and some old, and, it’s all pretty exciting.

Raindrop re-design

I just finished writing and screencasting about a new Raindrop UI I’ve been working on for the past few weeks. The design hasn’t been fully implemented yet but I’m hoping that this will be the next design direction for Raindrop. This version really feels like a breath of fresh air – fuck rounded corners, drop shadows, bevels, embosses, and text shadows! You can read about the design here as well as see a screencast of the design in action here.
